Nothing too fancy here. Lighter purple is Pure Ice, darker purple is from Ulta. Layered with some glitter (don’t remember the name or brand) and then NYC’s Matte Coat. Pretty simple, really. I’m looking forward to the next one - black and white. STAMPING FTW. The cleanup on this isn’t hot, I’m out of acetone and I’m growing out my hacked up cuticles and whatnot.
Did this yesterday and I still haven’t put a top coat on. I usually like water marbling, but I’m not too hot on this one - I think it’s the gold that’s bothering me. The other two colors are pretty flat, they may be jellies for all I know, but then there’s this glittery punch in the face that is almost impossible to photograph. I’m very meh about it and I’d take it off, but I’m out of acetone. *sadface*
Today we have Sally Hansen InstaDry in Lickety-Split Lime, topped with China Glaze’s Black Crackle and a top coat of SH Double Duty. Needless to say, I didn’t get to the store to get some SV. I also didn’t shit out the money for it, so there’s that too.
I like how this turned out - it would be very Halloween-y with purple and orange stripes or a gradient under the black. Hopefully my nails will get longer quickly so I can do that - I tried a 4 color gradient about a week ago and it turned out decent, but it was hard squishing all those colors on my little bitty nubbins.
Today’s mani was nice because it was easy - the SH InstaDry goes on somewhat thick, but it dries pretty quickly and is really a one-coat color. WIN. If only their top coat dried quickly as well…
The pic is hella out of focus. Somehow, the baby DIDN’T chew on my phone, which DIDN’T fry the circutry inside. So now I totally DON’T have to use Mr. Berry’s 3 year old Android phone until my replacement comes in. Actually, that last part is true, I guess I really don’t need to use his old smartphone.
And then the internet breaks into a chorus of laughter.
But yeah, the nails. I like the idea of them, but once again, I got a little too antsy and layered my polish too thick, too fast, so it’s smudging worse than a socialite’s mascara after a 6 hour coke binge. I also need to stop hacking at my cuticles with the cuticle trimmer. I remember it being much easier to trim them…
It didn’t hold up very well, but I think that may have been because of the top coat. It’s kind of old, and the bottle is almost empty to the point of not being able to reach anymore. Looks like I’m going to have to get a bottle of Seche Vite and see what the big deal is.
Jupiter may have “saved Earth from a devastating cosmic collision” on Monday when it took a hit from what may have been a massive asteroid, resulting in a 100-mile-wide fireball large enough to be caught on film from Earth.
This is the third time since 2009 observers have seen an impact flash on Jupiter’s surface, and some astronomers think the big planet’s gravitational pull serves as a sort of “cosmic shield” for the inner rings of planets — including Earth — “sweeping up incoming objects that would have a deadlier effect” if they were to crash into us. A few scientists think that without Jupiter’s protection, life on Earth wouldn’t have been able to develop.
Because only harlots wear red on their nails. Awesome, swanky, sexy harlots.
Yesterday I did the red - I liked it, but I felt the black stars looked like spiders every time I looked down at my hands. So when one nail broke and the polish peeled a bit, I took it as a sign.

I need to start moisturizing my hands better, I know. The acetone is eating them alive. Also, if anyone has any tips on how to clean up the cuticles and whatnot other than “acetone and a q-tip” or the easier “find a magician, mug him, and steal his magic wand,” I’d be much obliged.
